I was saddened to hear of David's passing. Although we had not communicated for years, my connections with David started back in 4th grade in the Ackley, Iowa public school system. Our friendship continued after high school, but life took us in very different directions. One of the significant memories I have is David's love of music. His stereo equipment and LP collection was quite extensive. While contact was minimalistic over the years, I always thought of David as a friend.
I recall the times walking and checking David's trap lines, how happy he was with his first car and the trips we took in it, the times we played scientists in my basement with my chemistry set, many Noon meals spent at the kitchen table at his sister's house where his mother would lovingly prepare lunch for us, and even playing a few rounds of golf where he excelled in the short game.
Looking back, and if I have any regrets, it is one that is expressed often as the years pass - I wish I had bothered to maintain more contact with David.
My thoughts, even at this late date, are extended to all members of his family. For me, it is easy to keep David alive in my memories...and I shall.
