David Samme was a regular visitor to Nether Swell Manor with groups of children from Robert Bloomfield. He was a consummate professional with a great sense of humour and it was a pleasure to work with him. I am very saddened by this news of his untimely death. Richard Davis.

I was an honour and privilege to teach with Dave in Robert Bloomfield during the time we shared, he was, and remains, a legend in my eyes. His calm and well considered advice was born of experience, yes, but also a real care for his fellow teacher. He was always so encouraging and positive, even if you could not see the wood for the trees on occasion. Never condescending, he took great care not lecture you even if he had seen it all before, he was always willing to listen and have you bounce ideas and concerns off him. Personally I learnt such a lot from him, particularly in terms of the form tutor role he always had time for pupils in his care. He was universally liked by pupils and colleagues - I honesty know of no one who had a bad word for him. It is so sad that he did not get to enjoy more of the retirement his work and commitment to education surely deserved. We lost a great man the other day, RIP Dave. My thoughts are with your wife and family at this time.

Dave was one of the nicest and most sincere people I ever worked with. I always held him in high esteem. He was always respected within the school and popular with the students. I was glad to have bumped into him earlier in the year. My thoughts are with Anne and the family at this very sad time. I am so sorry that I won't be able to attend his funeral.

I taught with Dave at Robert Bloomfield, he was one of the nicest and most sincere people I ever worked with. It doesn't seem long ago that I met him in Bedford and he told me he was ill. My thoughts are with Anne ,who I remember from way back, and the family. I am so sorry that I won't be able to attend the funeral.
