David Sanchez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 19, 2025.
David Michael Sanchez, 48, passed away on May 14, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on November 23, 1976, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, David brought light and laughter into the world from the very beginning.

David's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with creativity, compassion, and connection. For over two decades, he worked as a chef-a role that allowed him to share his love through food and bring joy to countless people. Later in life, David followed a new calling and returned to school to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Art and Art Therapy. His academic journey reflected his deep desire to help others heal and grow through creative expression. He was a proud member of the National Society for Leadership and Success and Psi Chi, the national psychology honors society. David had plans to continue his education in graduate school for Art Therapy.

David's artistic spirit extended far beyond the classroom. He found joy in origami, crafting, and making art-each piece infused with his unique perspective and warmth. Whether folding paper into intricate shapes or preparing a meal with care and flair, David approached every endeavor with heart.

David was also a passionate supporter of the arts and the LGBTQ+ community. He had a deep appreciation for local theater and previously performed in productions himself, bringing his humor, heart, and dramatic flair to the stage. For many years, he was a proud performer in Cornyation, one of San Antonio's most beloved Fiesta traditions and a major fundraiser for LGBTQ+ organizations across the city. His involvement in this vibrant, irreverent show was more than performance-it was an act of joy, protest, and solidarity. David believed deeply in uplifting others and used his creativity as a tool for both celebration and change.

Those who knew David often spoke of his magnetic presence. He had an uncanny ability to make friends wherever he went; people were drawn to his kindness, humor, and authenticity. In every room he entered, he made others feel seen and valued-never judging, always embracing. His laughter was infectious; his love boundless.

David is survived by his beloved husband, Adam Nash; their cherished fur-children, Max and Lucy; his brother, Daniel Sanchez Jr.; his mother, Adela Stevens; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved wholeheartedly. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Sanchez.

David Michael Sanchez leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to ripple through the lives of all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and inspiration to those who carry it forward.

Oh my beloved Son, you filled my heart with so much love and joy. The time we spent was just not long enough. You were cut from the same cloth as my father Daniel, generous, hilarious, compassionate and a frien to everyone. You were my minds image of what my son David what have grown up into. A piece of my heart left me when you left us.
Thank you for your unconditional love, your support, and helping me become the person I am now. You will always be a part of my life, when I see a beautiful piece of art, when I listen to the playlist we sang too loud to and danced like dorks, when I close my eyes and remember that mischievous grin you would flash before bursting into laughter.
I carry your heart with me.

I will miss David immensely. I have so many great memories of karaoke, dancing cumbia and laughing like no one else was in the room. He was one of the favorite uncles to my kids. He will be missed.

MyBCF, how I miss you so much. I will always have our talks, you listening to me while I vent and you giving me advice. I will miss all the laughs we had and the good times we had growing up. I will miss us sending TikTok´s to each other and commenting on them. You were the first one I told about me getting a ring from Gary and you telling me that you better be in the wedding LOL
I´m so proud of you earning your Bachelors degree, because honestly, I think you´re the only one of Grandma Kikas grandkids who has earned one, besides the great grandkids. I love you David and I will always love you and you will always be in my heart and memories. Until we meet again, watch over us. Your BCF-Mellissa
