David A. Schallenberg 1937 - 2017
WESTERNVILLE - David A. Schallenberg, 80, died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Luke's Home.
He was born July 15, 1937 in Rome, NY, the son of Robert and Martha Abbuhl Schallenberg. He graduated from Holland Patent High School and attended Cornell University for two years. On November 4, 1961 he married Lois Jean McKerrow, at the bride's parent's home, in Centerville, NY. She died March 5, 2013. David was founder of D. A. Schallenberg Construction Company in 1959. He worked with his father on the Schallenberg Dairy Farms, purchasing it in 1975. David retired in 2002.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Ann and Eric Hart, Eldersburg, MD and Bonny Joy Schallenberg, Umatilla, FL; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David A. Schallenberg, II, Westernville and Douglas and Peggy Schallenberg, Westernville; and a grandson, Drake. He was predeceased by a sister, Violet Smith; and a brother, Roland Schallenberg.
Funeral services will be held, 10 a.m., Saturday at Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, Inc., 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Interment will be in Westernville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Fridaym from 4 to 7 p.m.
