David Sharkey Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of David Allen Sharkey on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Glace Bay Hospital.

Born in Guelph, Ontario, he was the son of the late Stanley Sharkey and Ethel Roberts.

Dave was employed as a Fire Fighter in Ontario until his retirement. Following his retirement Dave and his wife Gail came to Glace Bay to help build and grow the Lighthouse Church with Dave Sawler.

Surviving is daughter Nancy (Robert) Ronalds and Sherry Hachey; son David Jr. (Kellyn); brothers Stanley Jr., Earl and Don.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Gail.

There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00am in Patten Funeral Home Chapel, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay with David Sawler officiating.

Donations may be made in Dave's memory to the Lighthouse Church in Glace Bay.

Dave was a great firefighter and a pleasure to work with. He had a great sense of humour and was easy (for a young guy on the job) to approach for sage advice. Very much appreciated. He will be missed.
