DAVID SLOUGH Obituary

SLOUGH, David Allen, 53, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 24, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Bobby" M. Slough III; grandparents, Bob and Evelyn Slough and Virginia Fay Hiller. Surrounded by his loving family and friends, he leaves behind his mother, Joanne Slough; sister, Kim Matheny and husband, Mike; brother, Richard "Ricky" Slough and his wife, Devon; nieces, Ashley and Nicole Matheny and McKenna Slough; nephews, Cory Matheny and Madison Slough; a host of other loving family and friends. David, formerly of Richmond, Va., and Reno, Nev., relocated to the Outer Banks, N.C. Beginning as a volunteer with Henrico Rescue Squad at age 17, he worked in all three cities as a paramedic. He was a member of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, Va. 23831. His wishes were that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Carolina Association of Rescue & EMS, 200H Genoa Crossing, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
