FAYETTEVILLE - David Dan Taitano, 68, of 2516 Pineview Drive, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Born in Yigo, Guam, he was a son of the late Francisco Salas and Virginia Guerrero Taitano. He retired from the U.S. Army, was a member of the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is his daughter, Tonya Dickert and her consort, Marty Medlock, of Hodges, S.C.; stepdaughters, Jo Ann Prince and her husband, James, of Paint Rock, Ala., and Donna Gibbs and her husband, Chris, of Carterville, Ill.; stepson, Frank Gipson and his wife, Tammy, of Trenton, Ala.; two sisters, Virginia Taitano of Agana, Guam, and Deloris Taitano of Peoria, Ill.; brother, John Taitano and his wife, Sierra, of Agana; grandchildren, Joshua Dickert, Emily Dickert and Austin Dickert, all of Hodges, Lori Milam of Greenwood, S.C., Ashley Dickert of Anderson, S.C., Layne Gibbs of Carterville, Michaela Gipson, Rusty Gipson and Samantha Gipson, all of Trenton; two greatgrandchildren, Bailey Mae Shedd and Ella Grace Shedd of Greenwood, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Kathy Taitano, Drew Taitano and Alma Taitano, and a special friend, Barbara Sewell of Anderson, S.C. He was preceded in death by brothers, Joe Taitano, Frank Taitano, Art Taitano and Thomas Taitano. Graveside services, with military rites, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood. Honorary escort will be members of the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club and Patrick "Tad" Tadino. The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home in Greenwood on Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the VFW or the Rolling Thunder Inc., Chapter 1NC, P.O. My grandfather Joaquin(dec)& Uncle David's mom were brother & sister. I vaguely remember him growing up as he was much older than I. My prayer's are with him now and his family and may god bless you with his memories.
