David TOMBLIN Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal on Jul. 14, 2012.
TOMBLIN, David John
July 29, 1927 - July 4, 2012
Passed away peacefully in Edmonton, Alberta at the Royal Alexandra Hospital after a fall on June 8, 2012.
David is survived by his wife and five loving children - Megan Hakin, John, Alanna Smith, Davina (David) Bradshaw and David Joseph, all of Greater Vancouver. He will be greatly missed by his seven grandchildren, Lisa Murphy of Toronto, Ryan Murphy of Hong Kong, and Michael Murphy of Australia; Aaron Smith of Surrey, Alyssa Smith of Victoria; and Jacob and Samuel Bradshaw of Vancouver. Also survived by his nephew Daniel Dill of Point Roberts and his family.
While David retired from BC Rail in 1992, his lifelong passion was repairing watches. He was a respected member of the Canadian Jewelers Association of Canada since the 1960s. David remained an avid watch and clock collector, and was an active member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC). He was a mentor to others until his final days, and was never happier than when tinkering with watches and clocks. Dad made friends wherever he went and cherished his friendships with the other members of the Wildrose Antique Show Association (the original Antique Roadshow).
David will forever be remembered for his sense of humour and for the smiles he brought to all of us. He is most certainly winking at us from above.
Private service to be held at a later date at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vancouver, BC, officiated by Fr. Josaphat Tyrkalo, OSBM.

Evangeline and family - sorry to have read this about David/dad. I shared a few laughs and trips to Boyle with your mom and dad, some talks about antiques and clocks. He tried really hard to get one of my old clocks to work but to no avail. A good man -I'm sure you will all miss him - but know that he is now watching over you all and one day, you will together again. Evangeline - please keep in touch. I did get a call from Alana but was not home so missed her. Love to all
