David Uhlig Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 13, 2025.
A respected Colorado and Arizona attorney, passed on to his next destination on December 22nd, 2024 ending his courageous battle with Syringiomyelia.

Born on December 19, 1974 in Omaha, Nebraska, David moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma with his mother and brother in 1984. He graduated from Cascia Hall Preparatory School. After law school at The University of Oklahoma, he moved to Denver, Colorado to start his career and to participate in outdoor adventures. He fondly remembered working in Aspen and skiing on his lunch break.

David had high expectations, especially for himself. He was driven and goal oriented, he gave one hundred percent to every endeavor, whether it was work, play, or building friendships.

Aside from his bulldogs and his friends, David's greatest love was his work, which he continued until the end. David accomplished much in his short life, founding Summit 6 Legal and later Uhlig Transactional, specializing in commercial real estate and general business law.

After his health began to fail, he packed up his beloved bulldogs, Moe and Nugget, and moved to Tucson, Arizona. He found new outdoor adventures that required less from him physically, becoming an expert on what filled the desert surrounding him. David especially enjoyed bird watching, star gazing, and the breathtaking sunsets on his four acre homestead.

David was survived by his mother, Michele McKenna, his father, David Uhlig Sr., his brother, James Uhlig, his sister, Ashley Mayo, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a myriad of friends, whom he loved like brothers.

A celebration of life will be held in Denver, Colorado during the summer solstice. For details of the forthcoming celebration, please reply to [email protected] Donations may be made in David's memory to: Bobby Jones Chiari & Syringiomyelia rarediseases.org

A bright light was seen by hosts of angels and long-gone relatives and friends, I believe, as our dear friend David passed from this world into the eternal next world. In a moment all mystery of time and space was revealed to someone we know. How wonderful and painful to have known someone in this world who right now, gets to know everything.

The deepest darkness of the universe must have paused as David's physical body and spirit took the hand of someone invisible to us and came to take him to an eternal home.

Who knows how many years David's family and friends will be out of contact with David. Maybe many, many years or days until we reach his destination. People still are standing in line for coffee, pumping gas into their cars, going to work, school, somewhere. Nothing has stopped. No one knows about what happened except the ones he loved. In a matter of hours, it will be dark outside again.

We will all comfort ourselves when we miss him. One day the grave will be empty because it cannot hold God's children for long. The empty grave. That's what we live for.

We will miss David, I knew him when he worked in Aspen across the hall at Herb Klein's office. Tragic to lose someone so young.
