David Waldrop Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 24, 2025.
It is with great love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David L. Waldrop, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend. David passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and quiet grace.

Beloved husband of Cathy Waldrop, nee Singer. Cathy was the love of his life, and together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering support. Their bond was a true partnership, and their love story remains an inspiration to all who knew them. Loving father of Mark Waldrop and Todd (Elli) Waldrop; adored grandfather of Makalah and Sophie; devoted son of the late Vernon and the late Dorothy Waldrop; cherished brother of Ruth Ostertag, Pam Waldrop, Jan Waldrop-Stratton, Cheryl Waldrop, Susie Waldrop, Jeffrey (Andrea) Waldrop, and the late Michael Waldrop; dear brother-in-law of Nicki Skogfeldt, Lee (Nancy) Singer and the late Dale (Judy) Singer; treasured uncle and friend to many.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, David served his country with honor in the Marine Corps and carried that same sense of duty and selflessness throughout his life. He was known by all as the kindest man alive-gentle, thoughtful, and adored by everyone who had the good fortune to meet him. David was a man of quiet talents and deep intellect. He had a lifelong love of crossword puzzles, tackling even the most difficult ones with ease and a sharp wit. But above all else, David lived to bring joy to those around him. He never sought the spotlight-he simply gave, listened, and loved, without ever asking for anything in return. Even in difficult times, he never complained and always found a way to lift others up. David's presence was a gift, and his memory will be held in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and selfless generosity. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
