Dave came into my life when I was almost 5. He told me "if anyone asks, I'm your big brother!" He knew I always wanted a big brother. I was lucky though, I got 2, Dave and Jerry. As I grew up, I spent more time with Dave and his first wife Carol along with the 4 kids. He taught me to NEVER rely on a man to do anything and to be self sufficient. He taught me how to change the oil in my car, change a tire and to work hard and be able to support myself.
If anyone had a problem, he was the psychiatrist of the family. So knowledgeable. I can't tell you how many times he scared my boyfriends away. He used to tell me to keep an aspirin with me on a date and if the boy was getting "fresh" with me to put that aspirin between my knees. I asked why, that sounded pretty stupid. He said it was for birth control and then we laughed.
One time someone form the bar across from our house, someone threw a cue ball through my window on my car. He and Jerry wiped my tears and put a new window in my car in the under ground parking garage where Jerry lived.
Unfortunately, I stopped seeing my brother because of another family member causing ruckus and I didn't want to be involved. Dave will always be my BIG brother!!! Love you buddy and I am blessed to have so many memories of you!!!
