Dear Leiana, Ulalia, and family:
My deepest sympathies are extended to you during this time of sorrow. May your memories lighten your hearts. Dave's legacy lives on and on in his family, friends, and the beauty of Hawaii's natural resources he helped to protect and conserve and teach others about. I am so glad for the time Dave spent with me as mentor, friend, and colleague. I was very fortunate to have his knowledge to help me and was very lucky to work with him. He enjoyed going into the forest and onto the remote islands, and he loved nature, our projects, birds (of course), and he always talked so fondly of his family. Dave had a wonderful, happy life and he was very well loved. Aloha, Phyllis

Aloha e Woodside 'Ohana,
Please accept our sincere sympathy and aloha in the recent passing of your husband, father and grandfather, Brother Woodside. His quiet way of teaching allowed all of us the opportunity to learn more than what we had expected and for those moments we are sincerely grateful. We will remember him along with you all in our prayers daily. Malama pono,
Paul P. Richards and 'Ohana
