I had been close friends with David since early childhood. Tennis doubles partner, Debate team partner, SCUBA dive buddy and a little fishing everywhere. We shared adventures in many far-off places and games of billiards at each other's homes. David had a sense of adventure and inquiry that drew me to be a best friend of his throughout our lifetimes. The world and my place in it is a little bit less with his passing. I think of him often and those memories are among my best.

David, Ruth, and I were medical school classmates. I always enjoyed socializing with them at our class reunions. I'm sorry to hear that David has died. He will always be remembered fondly by the patients he cared for and his many friends and acquaintances. Truly a remarkable individual who has passed from this life to the next much too soon.

I am a very old friend of David's. I have not had contact for many many years. As I read the condolences I am happy to hear he enjoyed marriage, children & grandchildren, his profession and travel. It is no surprise to read he enjoyed Love & respect all of these years. I knew him to be a good man who embraced life. My sympathies to all his family. May he Rest In Peace

I just learned of Dr. Zauel's passing this past Monday, April 2 and am very saddened and shocked. Dr. Zauel has been my specialist since April 1981 and I've entrusted him for my health care and never sought out any other doctor even though I live in Florida. I will have to now.

During my yearly checkups, he would tell me about his family travels and the animals they would see.
The African trip was the most fascinating and the whales would've been good to hear this visit.

So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He was very dear to the Bacon family, and my dad always enjoyed sharing jokes with him at his appointments.

My dear friends David and Ruth barely a month ago. A relaxed moment in the most beautiful place I know in the Everglades, Sweetwater Strand.
