I met Dave back in 2019.
We were work colleagues, but I'd like to think we had progressed beyond that.
Myself, my manager Dan and Dave headed out for a road trip back in March 2019 as it was my first time abroad and it was three weeks away from my family for the first time.
Both of them regalied me with stories and interesting facts about the area. We hiked in the redwood reserves north of San Francisco and headed down to Big Sur. All the time exchanging stories and getting to know each other.
I remember hearing about Daves passing as it was a few days after a call we had both been involved on.
Dave was supposed to be on annual leave but the man was incredibly dedicated to his craft. And to be honest, his knowledge was indispensable. He joined regardless (without invitation if I remember correctly. He just knew what was happening... Always!).
He was an incredible man, with an incredible sense of humor and a sense of wit that I miss.
I wish I had got to know him more, I think we'd have ended up good friends.
I feel incredibly for his family and friends.
I know him for a short time and his lessons always ring in my head.
Rest in peace and prayers go out to him, his family and his close ones.
(I'm in the UK so I'm putting Nebraska on the state list for this post. I have friends there. Close enough)
