Dawn Elaine Wheeler

Dawn Elaine Wheeler, 59, was born on February 8. 1963 in Quincy, MA and was raised in Braintree, MA and Sutton, NH. After graduating from high school, she attended a vocational school for institutional cooking. Dawn enjoyed baking and sewing and took pride in being "the housekeeper" while her mom worked in the garden. In 2000, Dawn moved to Rohnert Park, CA to live with her sister. She quickly integrated into the family and community. She continued in the role of "housekeeper", watched TV, and read stories to the kids. She volunteered at Waldo Rohnert Elementary School, assisting in the kindergarten classroom. In the summers, she walked to the local pool each day for a swim. In 2013, Dawn and her family moved to Crescent City, CA. There, she participated in day programs through Redwood Coast Regional Center and volunteered at the Senior Center and the thrift store. When she became dependent on a wheelchair, she lived at Addie Meedom House for several years before returning home at the end of 2021. On May 12, 2022, Dawn died after a short illness. She was predeceased by parents George and Elinor Wheeler and half-sisters Ann Anderson and Lynne Chadwick. She is survived by family and friends scattered throughout the country.
