Royal E. Wilkerson MT. PLEASANT - Royal E. Wilkerson, 99, husband of Evelyn Harris Wilkerson, formerly of Monroe, NC, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2009. The relatives and friends of Royal Wilkerson are invited to attend his Funeral Service in Central United Methodist Church, 801 S Hayne Street, Monroe, NC 28112, 704-289-3186 at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment, Monroe City Cemetery. ARRANGEMENTS BY GORDON FUNERAL HOME. Mr. Wilkerson was born May 16, 1910 in Little Rock, AR, son of John Wesley Wilkerson and Mary Elizabeth Jinkerson Wilkerson. He was a retired attorney with the VA Administration and a member of Central United Methodist Church in Monroe, NC. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Harris Wilkerson; daughter, Sue Ann Aycock and her husband, Brantley of Monroe, NC; two grandsons, Dr. Brantley Aycock, III and Dr. John David Aycock; step-daughter, Nancy Hicks Herritage and her husband, Jim of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three step-grandchildren, Major Allen D. Herritage, USAF and his wife, Kristin, Benjamin D. Herritage and his wife, Cassie, and Katie Cramer; and three great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church, 801 S Hayne Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
