Dean Garati

Dean Garati, 45, passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2025, in the Sarasota/Bradenton area of Florida. Born on September 18, 1979, in Richmond, Virginia, Dean lived a life marked by adventure, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Since 2012, Dean was the proud owner of Palmfish Communications Inc., following many years of dedicated work in the cable industry. His professional journey was defined by integrity and care-his customers consistently praised him for being kind, thorough, and respectful. Dean's commitment to excellence and his personable nature earned him lasting respect within his field.

Dean's greatest joy came from spending time with his four beloved daughters: Coral Summerlyn, Zalea Augustine, Zenna Jean, and Zoria Ann shared with their mother, Desiree Chubb. Dean also shared his life with his wife Annamarie Carroll. He is further survived by his mother Dinah Garati; sister Crystal Perry and her husband Scott; niece Madison Perry; and great-niece Charlie.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather Steve Garati.

Dean embraced life with an adventurous spirit. He found peace and exhilaration in the outdoors-whether camping under the stars, surfing along the coast, boating through Florida's waterways, skateboarding with ease, or exploring state parks and beaches. These passions were often shared with his daughters as they traveled together and enjoyed simple moments at home.

His spirituality was rooted in a profound love for life's essentials: family, friends, the ocean, and nature. Dean approached each day with spontaneity and warmth. He was fun-loving yet grounded-a man who worked diligently to provide for those he loved most.

May Dean's memory live on through the waves he surfed, the trails he wandered, and most of all-in the hearts of those who loved him dearly. A Memorial Gathering will be held on August 3, 2025, from 01:30 PM to 03:00 PM at Cortez Beach - 3 Piers 500 Gulf Drive South. Gathering together on the beach with a paddle out ceremony. A paddle out ceremony offers a special way to say goodbye, a gathering with surf boards or other water-crafts to honor a loved one. We will paddle through the waves until we reach a designated spot, through the break into the calm. This floating memorial is where we will scatter flowers or ashes, either silently or sharing memories of Dean.
