Redding - Dean Laughton Harmon, 85, of Redding, California, passed away on December 24, 2023. He was born on December 17, 1938, in Oneida, New York. Dean was the beloved husband of Brenda and the loving father of Scott, Deana, David, and Jared. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death by his father, Donald Porter Harmon, and his mother, Marian Louise Wilbur.

Dean had a successful career as the owner of Woods Pest Control. He was dedicated to his work and made a significant impact in his field.

In his free time, Dean had a wide range of hobbies that brought him joy and fulfillment. He had a passion for Jeeps, old cars, camping, fly fishing, and backpacking. Dean was also a licensed ham radio operator and enjoyed exploring new places, reading, and learning. He had a special affinity for horses and embraced the lifestyle of a rancher and wrangler. Additionally, Dean was an avid hunter, finding solace in the great outdoors.

Dean and his wife served together on 6 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They dedicated their time and efforts to various locations, including the Salt Lake City Church History Library, The Mormon Handcart Historic Site (twice), The Cody Historic Mural and Museum (twice), and the Panaca, NV Proselyting Mission.

A ceremony to honor Dean's life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 21912 Plaza Drive, Palo Cedro, CA.

Dean Laughton Harmon will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who mourn his loss.
