Dean E Wood was my grandpa. I am Curtis Wood's daughter.
I remember the last time I saw him he didn't even recognize, or I don't think he did the whole time he would just stare at me or my family. then when I left a few days later I was at home and my dad came in he looked sad and then I realized my mom was also crying so then it clicked my grandpa passed. my parents told me, but I didn't cry I just ate dinner and went upstairs but then I sobbed. I loved him very much, but I didn't know it until he was gone. I remember great memories that will always stay in my heart I hope to make many more with my grandma. We didn't have a funeral for him he didn't want us to have one instead we went to a big cabin and had fun with the family on the last night there we looked at photos of him and all of my cousins and a lot of memories came back. I miss him so much, but I know that he knows that.
sincerely, Olivia his granddaughter

My condolences to Dean's family,
I heard today from some GSD workers that Dean had passed in 2024. I worked with Dean and his co-workers at the Granite School District auto garage during the summers of 1992, 1993, and 1994. He was a kind, professional, and knowledgeable person.
I remembered when Robert Streator and Dean talked about their Jeep CJ7s and the Coachman campers they owned. Their input helped me years later with my fifth-wheel camper purchase. They said, "Don't buy a camper with plumbing on the back end unless you want it torn off when going through a rut or gutter. And a fifth wheel has the best stability compared to other campers." I never doubted their advice and probably saved myself a lot of trouble too.
One time, after completing college, I dropped in to see everyone at the garage. He had since moved to the bus garage and was busy working on the school buses. He and his coworkers were hard at work getting the school buses ready for the next school day.
Again, my condolences. I hope my sharing gives comfort that even decades later Dean wasn't forgotten by someone who had lost touch with him as time marched on.
Sincerely,
Robert Rigby
