LONGVIEW — Services for Deanna Joy Godwin Laney, 72, of Longview, will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at Longview Church of Christ with Mr. Robert Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Welch Funeral Home. Mrs. Laney passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in Longview.
Mrs. Laney was born in 1939 at Markham Hospital in Longview, Texas. She lived here all her life. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Gary Laney. She worked at Dunaway Supply and was a Realtor. She was always encouraging her family and friends in the importance of a Christian life and not losing their soul. Mrs. Laney was a charter member of Longview Church of Christ. She loved fishing and being with her friends.
Mrs. Laney was preceded in death by her father, Shorty Godwin, and mother, Virginia Godwin.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Laney; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Julia Laney of Gilmer; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Barry Hamill of Hallsville; grandchildren, Leslie Laney, Damon Laney, Tori Hamill Moreland and husband, Steve, Alex Hamill; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Jan Godwin of Longview; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Billy Coley of Longview; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynda and Mike Patterson of Whitehouse; brother-in-law, Doyle Laney of Kilgore; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including one special niece and her namesake, Carla Joy Coley Matthews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, May 17, 2012, at Welch Funeral Home.
