Deborah Collins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 3 to Jan. 5, 2024.
St George - Deborah Beatrice Collins, also known as Rocket girl, passed away on December 16, 2023, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 66. She was born on June 25, 1957, in Mobile, Alabama. Deborah was a vibrant and outgoing individual who never met a stranger. Her personality was a force of bright light, and she had a strong sense of movement.

Deborah was a true giver, always extending her love and care to her family and friends. She had a special bond with her cats, especially Pickles. Throughout her life, Deborah lived in various places, but St. George became her home from 2009 until her passing. She became an integral part of the community, and her presence will be deeply missed by many.

Deborah was a talented individual with a passion for art and writing poetry. She believed in a higher power and expressed her gratitude through acts of kindness towards all living creatures. Her belief in a higher power was evident in her loving and compassionate nature.

Deborah served in the US Air Force from 1976 to 1980, where she achieved the rank of Avionics Aerospace Ground Equipment Specialist. She received the AF Good Conduct Medal and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon for her exemplary service. With a total of 46 years of experience in the aerospace industry, Deborah worked for JT4, LLC Nevada from 2009 to 2023. She also contributed her skills to McDonnell Douglas/Boeing/ULA in Cape Canaveral, FL.

Deborah's accomplishments included being a field test technician for Delta II, III, and IV from 1988 to 2007. She was known for her multitasking abilities without compromising attention to detail. Although she was incredibly intelligent, some might perceive her as bossy. However, those fortunate enough to be her friends understood that this was part of her "Debbie Wisdom."

Deborah is survived by her loving husband, Mike Collins, and her sister, Sharon Ross Hafen, as well as her brother, Paul Tracy Spikes. She is also survived by her nephews, Christian Ross, Brian Gossmen, and Jeremy Gossmen.

Deborah's military service will be honored during her ceremony. She proudly served in the US Air Force from 1976 to 1980. Her interment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida, on June 25, 2024, which would have been her 67th birthday.

Spillsbury Funeral Home in St. George, Utah, is assisting the family with the arrangements for Deborah's passing. Their compassionate and professional services will ensure that Deborah's final journey is handled with care and dignity.

Deborah Beatrice Collins, a beloved wife, sister, and aunt, will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, and may her spirit continue to inspire us all.

I worked with Debbie back in the mid 1990´s at McDonnell Douglas on the Delta II program at DMCO(Delta Mission Check Out). She was very knowledgeable, very helpful, always willing to help. I learned a lot from her in my beginning years on the Delta II program and eventually migrating to Delta IV. Debbie, may the lord bless you for your kindness and receive you with open arms.

I´ll always remember the day we met. You walked into the salon I worked at in Titusville, wanting a manicure. We hit it off instantly! I loved your Spirit. We were so much alike on so many levels. I loved being around you. You helped me through many rough spots in my life. I have lots of great memories with you that I´ll hold close in my heart. I´ll love and miss you until we meet again
