Deborah DUMAS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 23, 2020.
October 15th 1956 ~ April 17th 2020. The sudden passing of our beloved Wife and Mom has left our hearts sad and heavy. Debbie was born in Port Arthur, Ontario and she was predeceased by her parents Harvey & Jesse McCanna. Her passion in life was music and art and she lived each day expressing her creativity and happiness. She loved working with disabled, special needs and gifted children at several Halton District High Schools. Debbie positively touched the lives of so many that had the privilege of knowing her with a song, a smile or her infectious laugh. She will be deeply missed by her family including her devoted and loving husband, Mike Finch, her children; Jamie, Dan, Mike and Will, and her brother, Jeff McCanna. While she is now in Heaven as one of God's brightest Angels, she will always be remembered in our hearts. We ask that any donations be kindly provided to the Juravinski Hospital Cancer Centre in her loving memory.

Mrs, Dumas was great lady. Wise very good singer and actress. She had a great voice. I will miss Preforming O Canada with her each morning at Bateman . I als remember doing a scene with her. About the conflict of my birthday and the house renovation. I messed it up a few times by insteps of saying hi mom, I say hi Mrs. Dumas. If someone was doing an assignment and was taking too long. Mrs. Dumas would say Come on. I'm going to be in the old folks home. And now when I visit Bateman. I'm sure that Mrs. Dumas will be looking down at me. And her spirit will be there. A great loss. Her voice has fallen silent way too early.

We sense the pain
We feel the love
One comes the other

Eyes that wonder
Minds go younder
Time to heal
Time to remember!

Deb was an extraordinary woman of many talents: artist, musician, singer, teacher and loyal friend. She always thought of what other people needed first, and jumped at the opportunity to help.
I will miss her big heart and kind words. I will miss her visits up to my place and all the exploring we did together.
Love and miss you Debbie. You are finally pain free and at peace.

Deb's flame burned bright in all seasons, in the heavy times and the lighter moments. We always knew that Deb was in the room or in a hall before we turned a corner or entered. Deb didn't keep her light to herself. She enthusiastically shared it, and even the most stubborn door couldn't keep that light from getting through. It multiplied more than Deb knew and continues as she does.

I will always see that smiling, energetic woman who encouraged all kids to be and do their best. Such a positive outlook and generosity. Singing the anthem in the school hallways in the morning and joining into music anytime. Ill remember that smile as the window to her kind soul.

One of the most pleasant people to walk the hallways of our school. Always uplifting and kind. She cared very deeply for the students she worked with. The last time I saw Deb she showed me a picture of one of her beautiful paintings - so talented and inspiring. She will surely be missed!

I will miss the huge smile she would give me every time we saw each other in the hall at school. I will miss the joy for life that she exuded. I will miss her positive attitude and her artistic flare. She was a great lady.
