Deborah Hooks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 30, 2025.
Deborah Kay Hooks, born on November 18, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana to John and Marie Hooks, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at an inpatient hospice in Denver, Colorado.

Deborah grew up in Rayville, Louisiana, and went on to dedicate much of her life to a career as a dental hygienist. She was known for her love of the outdoors, often hiking and exploring nature's beauty. Her years living in Crested Butte held a special place in her heart, where she formed many lifelong friendships and cherished memories.

Deborah was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 40 years, Gordon Miller, who passed away on August 17, 2024. She is survived by her stepson Brett Miller (Rachel), stepdaughter Kacey Swenson (Tim), grandsons Brandon Swenson, Ryan Swenson, Logan Swenson, Ben Miller, and Hayden Miller, as well as great-granddaughter Marilyn Swenson. She is also survived by her brother Dan Hooks (Teresa) and nieces Kristy Rizzo (Chris) and Hollie Reichardt (Michael).

In accordance with Deborah's wishes, no formal service will be held. Instead, those who knew her are encouraged to honor her memory in their own way-whether by sharing a favorite story or celebrating her life as they remember her.

May Deborah's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

I´m so sorry to read of Debbie´s passing. I haven´t seen her in decades. Thanks for posting the photos of her. I remember Debbie as a child. We were in the same Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church of Rayville, LA. Our Sunday School teacher asked her to sing to the class when she was maybe 7 or 8. She had a beautiful voice. Her father was my dentist. He gave me a ring for being a good patient. It´s interesting that Debbie would follow in his footsteps and be a dental hygienist and her brother a dentist.
From her obituary, it seems that Debbie enjoyed her life and family and living in Colorado. My condolences to her family. May she rest in peace.
