Deborah Reed, born in Monroe, LA on December 4, 1949, passed away peacefully in Houston, TX on Saturday, January 19, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. Heartbroken at the news of the loss of one so precious and loving. Praying that all of your hearts be held safe God's peace...and that your hope is daily strengthened with the knowledge that...He will call...she will answer.

Chan, Tara, David and Family
I met Deborah back in April of 1980. We were both new hires at Gulf Oil and became fast friends. She embodied the kind of person that I desired to associate with. She was fun and delightful. So, in 1986 after being laid off from her job from Gulf Oil (which I had been laid off in 1985), I was very happy to have an opportunity to hire her at BMC Software, where she spent many years being an excellent employee in several different capacities.
As I have already mentioned to Chan, she was Your Rock and loved and gave every part of herself to be able to take care of all of you. You were all the delights in her life. And in the end, you all showed how you delighted in taking good care of her.
It is hard now and will get harder in days to come after you come to the whole realization that she will not be back, but rest in peace that she is no longer in any pain. She is now resting in peace. I will surely miss her. Although we did not get together very often, but we did talk. A few months ago, she called me after losing my number, but she finally remembered it and I was so happy to hear from her because I did not have her number. We could talk for long periods of time just talking about the past and our families.
If there is ever anything that I can say to help ease your pain, please feel free to let me know.
I am attaching some words of kindness from former and some present BMC employees that have been posted on a group Face Book page of early days at BMC. I think you will all find that she was well loved, and I hope that this gives you some ability to know how much she meant to others.
I love you because I loved Her!!!

Peace be with you.

The Carroll High School Class of 1967 extends its deepest sympathy in the transition of your beloved mother. We all have fond memories of Deborah at the Dawg Pound at Dear Old Carroll High School. Not only was she a physically beautiful person but her inner beauty was evident in how she always welcomed us as we encountered one another on campus. Rest on Deborah, until we meet again. May God continue to bless this entire family as you celebrate her homegoing as she joins her brother, Richard Green.
