Barbara Brown Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 17, 2020.

Barbara (Grammie Pink) Brown passed away on April 14, 2020, after losing to an illness that she battled for many years. Grammie was surrounded by her loving and beloved family; and at the end of her journey she looked forward to a reunion with her son, Scott Finnemore, who predeceased her in 1992.

She was born in Portland, Maine, on August 30, 1943.

Barbara was also predeceased by her parents, Charles and Ruby Payne; her sister, Glenna Quimby, and her brother, Reginald Curtis.

Barbara graduated from Hampden Academy but lived most of her life in the Portland area; in later years she enjoyed living with her daughter Pattie and family in South Paris. In her younger years she enjoyed roller skating and bowling. She loved just being with people. When her illness forced her to stop working, she was happy just to be surrounded by her family and her cats. She will be remembered for her genuine kindnesses toward all and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

Some of Grammie Pink’s most fond memories were of time spent with the amazing children and parents from A Great Start Daycare. She adored them and they spent many happy moments together.

Barbara is survived by her oldest son, Alan Finnemore of Portland, Maine; daughter, Patricia and Sean Meehan of South Paris, Maine; daughter, Kelly Brown and Joe Nichter of Eddington, Maine. Grandchildren: Tori and Ben Blood of Gorham, Sean Michael Meehan of South Paris, Cody Meehan of Portland, and Jameson O’Neal of Fort Fairfield. In addition, Grammie had two great grands: Caleb and Emma Blood of Gorham, Maine. She is also survived by her sister and favorite brother-in-law, Steve and Betty Trimm of Eddington; several nieces and nephews.

Mom, There are no words to express the emptiness I feel right now or how much I am going to miss you being apart of my life each day. I am one of the luckiest people in the world because you are my Mom. You gave me unconditional love at all times. There was never a day that I didnt know that I was loved. That is priceless.
I know you worried about me not being okay when you passed away.
I AM OKAY because you are now able to breath ( that Im sure of) It is your time to be an angel and that gives me such a good feeling knowing you are in heaven with our loved ones. Give them my love.
I will continue to do my best to make you proud. I will always say What would Grammy do? I know that will be the right thing♥. Until we are together again please watch over our family.
Love and miss you so much

Grammie,
You were a very special lady to many. To me you were another grandmother, the great grandmother mother to our children, a friend and an extremely special person. From the beginning you welcomed me into your family with open arms. I loved our special times and will always remember our Christmas shopping dates...You were a selfless person who always wanted to see the good in others. You were more than willing to help anyone in need and never expected anything in return. I wanted to thank you for being a special part of our lives and I will think of you often during this journey of life. Love Benji

Grammy, there are no words I can say that describe our bond as grandson and grandchild in depth. We saw each other almost every day. Did almost everything together. You helped me, supported me and advised me even through the worst turmoils. When I thought I was alone In this life, you were always there to lift me up. To help guide me in my life. You gave me hope day by day. Now, I must continue this journey to bring with me and spread the 24 years of hope and love that you have given me.

Thank you for being the kindest Grammie that a girl could ever have! I am thankful for everyday that I had with you and for everyday that Caleb and Emma were able to have your love!

I'm saddened to hear of the passing of Aunt Barbara. To me she was always loving and caring and I'll remember her for that! She had a twinkle in her eyes, and I just knew she always cared. She loved my boys and was always so sweet and kind towards them. We will all miss her but I feel so grateful for the memories my children and I had with her! May she RIP!

I am really going to miss Barbie. I have very fond memories of her when I was growing up. She used to play with and entertain me when I was very little. She was and always will be one of my favorite cousins. She had a special way with people. She was always kind and loving and never said a bad word about anyone. I do not think that she had any enemies. Everyone that knew her loved her. She helped me through a very hard time when our grandmother died. She was there to comfort me and talk to me about how special I was to my Grandmother. She just had that special touch!! My heart goes out to our whole family but mostly to her children and grandchildren and sister. She loved her family with all her heart and soul. I will forever miss you, Barbie. Thank you for loving me.
