Debra J. Hanchett

Debra J. (Simak) Hanchett, of Sarver, was called home Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018. She was born March 17, 1957, at Citizens General Hospital. Yes, a St. Patrick's Day baby! Her parents were Hilda and Ralph VanTine, along with Thomas and surviving Phyliss Richards. She is survived by siblings, Marla and Karen Richards; son, Chris Simak Jr., of New Kensington; daughter, Amy Simak-Rogel (Andrew), of Sarver; and grandchildren, Darin Simak and Autumn Rogel. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Edward C. Simak Sr., and survived by her husband, James Hanchett. Debra enjoyed shopping, sewing, cooking, cleaning, boating, sunbathing, but mostly, spending time with her grandchildren and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play football!
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at JOSEPH J. CARDARO FUNERAL HOME, 1125 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, 724-337-3325. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 4:30 p.m. After the service, all are invited to the New Kensington Eagles, No. 533, 2134 Freeport Road, New Kensington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in honor of Debra to the American Diabetes Association.
