Debra Wilcockson Tomlin 1951 - 2021
Galesburg, IL—Debra Sue (Wilcockson) Tomlin died March 17, 2021 from her battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on March 29, 1951 to Ruth and Don Wilcockson in Springfield, IL, Deb was a 1969 graduate of Springfield High School. She received her Bachelors degree and a special education teaching certificate from Western Illinois University in 1973. Deb was first employed with Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth, Il where she met Don Tomlin. They married on March 8, 1975 at the Laurel United Methodist Church in Springfield. Deb went on to teach and coordinate special education services for the Knox/Warren Special Education Coop in Galesburg. Deb enjoyed playing the flute and sang in her church choir and the Buchanan Community Chorus. She was a skilled seamstress, an avid golfer, and a Bears and Cardinals fan. Deb and Don spent much time boating with friends on the Mississippi River. She became an accomplished water skier and a motorcyclist. Deb is survived by her husband. Also surviving are two brothers, Dennis (Sherry) Wilcockson, Mt. Juliet, TN,, Mark (Margo) Wilcockson, Dahinda, IL and her sister, Marcia (Gary) Nichols, Springfield, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death. Cremation has been accorded with a celebration of life to be held on June 5, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, IL Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Faith Church.
