Debra Tschinkel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2025.
Debra "Debbie" Marie (Hoover) Tschinkel, 65, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and daughter who will be dearly missed.

Born March 14, 1960, in Harrisburg, PA, Debbie was the daughter of Harold Hoover and Bonnie (Case) Hoover. She graduated from Cumberland Valley High School before receiving a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Penn State University. She was a 1st and 2nd grade teacher at several schools, including Hamilton Elementary School in Carlisle, PA. She demonstrated an immense interest in the well-being and success of not just her students, but of all children. Upon the birth of her two sons, Debbie became a full-time stay-at-home mother. She later became a teacher once again, this time by homeschooling both her sons. She will be remembered as a generous, kind and caring woman who always put others first.

Debbie was an avid gardener and would spend countless hours tending to her flowers and plants. The results of her gardening delighted both her family and neighbors. She also enjoyed reading, baking, playing games and piecing together jigsaw puzzles with her family, coloring, decorating, traveling with her family, collecting nutcrackers, listening to music, eating ice cream and spending time with her cats.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Lester Tschinkel; her beloved sons, Christopher and Nicholas Tschinkel; her father and mother, Harold and Bonnie Hoover; and her brother, David Hoover.

A private ceremony will be held by her family at a later date to celebrate her life.

Debbie's family will always cherish the time they spent with her and the memories they made together. She will be remembered and loved always and forever.
