Published by Legacy Remembers on May 30, 2024.
Deete Marie Chano, born Deete Marie Billiot, passed away on May 23, 2024 at 9:44 p.m. in Kenner, Louisiana, at the age of 65, even though she always wanted everyone to believe she was 29. She was born on November 17, 1958, in Jefferson. Deete was known for being a firecracker with quick-wit. Those who loved her knew she was very outspoken with a strong sense of humor and even at the end she always found a way to smile and laugh. She cared deeply for those she was surrounded by. Deete courageously fought the good fight until Heavens gates opened and received her, giving her eternal rest and peace. She will be remembered for her wild hair, wild laugh and her fervor for life. Deete is gone from our lives but never from our hearts.
She is survived by her dedicated husband, Mikel Chano, whom she shared many adventures, laughs and memories with. Children Kenny (Christy), Heather, Brandon, and step-son Sean, Siblings Edward Jr, Brian, and Jessica, Grandchildren Kenny, Kevin, Kacey, Kaley, MiKayla, and Ahnesty, as well as Great-grandchildren Kobe, Khloe, and Kaysen. Many nephews and nieces.
Deete was preceded in death by her Father, Edward J. Billiot Sr, and Mother , Tanya A. Bragg.
Deete attended Grace King High School and later pursued higher education at AIU University. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at Westminster Towers, her cats, playing bingo, and feeding squirrels.

A memorial service will be held by the family on June 15th, 2024 at St Jerome Church, 2402 33rd Kenner, LA. Services will be at 10 a.m. followed by a reception.

I want to say a prayer for Deete.

Dear Lord, Deete's friends and family gathered today to celebrate the life of Deete, who has now gone home to be with You. We thank You for the peace and redemption she found in You, and we pray that her legacy of knowing You
- God will inspire others to seek Your mercy and love.

For those who may not have known Deete, we pray that her story will be a testament to Your grace and forgiveness. May her example of knowing You encourage us all to make peace with You, "For You have mercy on whom You will have mercy." - Rom 9:15

Remind us, Lord, that tomorrow is not promised to anyone, and may we use the breath You have given us to seek Your face and follow Your will.

Comfort Deete's family and loved ones during this difficult time, and may they find strength in Your promise of eternal life.

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

May God use my words to bring comfort, hope, and redemption to all who hear them.

I want to extend my condolences to each of you and especially Deete's family for your loss - May God's love and comfort surround you during this difficult time,
Linda (Brandon Chano)

Deete was as many have described as a 'firecracker.' She knew everyone and everyone knew her. If she saw someone in their yard or washing their car, she'd run over and check on them. She was always concerned about the welfare of others and often went out of her way to help people. I know she will be a welcome member of heaven's community and not one of the spirits whose soul she touches will ever forget her. Rest in peace, Deete and fear not for no one who has ever has the pleasure of meeting you will ever forget you.

Deete was small in stature but commanded any room she was in. She had her special seat on the couch growing up she called her "grave", and would always try to sneak to sit there cause it was the comfiest cushion. She helped raise me into who I am today, and I´ll forever be grateful for that. Rest in Pease Deete, fly high Freebird.

Deete.was my favorite niece and had visited my wife, Eva and I, with her husband, Mike. one time a few years back in Texas. After my wife Eva, passed away in October of 2023, Deete was the only one that called me, every week, multiple times per week, checking on me and inquiring about my love interests and giving me advice. No one but her called on a regular basis and I was grateful to speak with her every week. I miss her calls. I am Cary Shanks and I was married to Eva Mary Billiot for 46 years and 2 days of wonderful wedded bliss and unadulterated LOVE.

As she fed the squirrels, she would talk with her friends, sharing stories and laughter, creating a that showed her caring n nurturing personality. Rest n Peace MawMaw thank uu for it all

Rest Heavenly Maw-Maw. She Will Be Deeply Missed by all who Knew and Loved Her. Her passing leaves a void in our lives, but her Love and Memories Will Remain With Us Forever. My Grandmother had a love for animals especially feeding the squirrels and for her humor. No matter what she was going through or how hard thing got for her at times, she always made us smile or laugh in some way.
Thank You for the laughs and the memories we shared that I will remember forever. Until We Meet Again... I love you MawMaw
