Deloris "Aileen" Estes (nee Nelson) 87, passed away stoically, yet, peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones on August 20th, 2014, in Lakewood, CO.

Aileen was born in Sharon Springs, KS on August 1st, 1927 to her mother Beulah Nelson (who proceeded her in death in 2004). Aileen was the second child and eldest daughter and was a sister to 11 siblings.

She moved to Colorado and lived in Golden, CO, and was an alumnus of Golden High School. On October 28th, 1946, Aileen married the love of her life, Marvin Estes. She and Marvin were married for nearly 68 years upon her passing.

Aileen was very active professionally and socially with the Denver Women's Bowling Association, and she worked and served their organization for 30 years as acting Board Member, Secretary, and President of the League until her retirement in 1997.

Aileen is survived by: Marvin Estes (husband), Alexis Jackson (daughter), Matthew Jackson (son-in-law), and Tera Major (granddaughter), Kenneth & Weegee Nelson (brother and sister-in-law), Norma Reivitt (sister), June Lamgo (sister), Virginia & Jerry Jenson (sister and brother-in-law), Carol & Elvin Hartman (sister and brother-in-law), Joan & Lyle Edwards (sister and brother-in-law), Peggy Nankirvis (sister), and Les & Becky Nelson (brother and sister-in-law), many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: Beulah Nelson (mother), Maurice Nelson (brother), and Patricia Kucharski (sister).

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life in Aileen's honor and all are welcome to attend. The Ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 10:00 am and a reception will follow at: Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 West 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to: The Lupus Foundation, Disabled Veterans Association, or the Colorado Humane Society.
