Joy Callaway Obituary
Joy graduated from East High School, Des Moines, Iowa in 1958. She married Charles L. Callaway on March 26, 1960. Joy was a home maker, and lived in Altoona, Iowa, where she and Charles raised her two children. Joy and Charles relocated to Colorado Springs with in 1985. Joy enjoyed living in beautiful Colorado Springs, with Pikes Peak greeting her each morning out her front door.
Joy is survived by her loving husband, Charles L. Callaway and her two children, Sean Callaway and his longtime girlfriend, Laney Catledge and Susan Mauro and husband Robert Mauro of Broomfield, Colorado and their two children Isaac and Lucas and sister Deborah Larkins and her family of New Virginia, Iowa. Joy is also leaving behind so many wonderful friends. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
A visitation is planned for Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Director's. The memorial service will be on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Swan-Law Funeral Director's Cascade Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may made to Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, 636 Morris Turnpike, Suite 3A, Short Hills, NJ 07078

Hi Chuck, Just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you. WE really enjoyed the pictures and video. We miss hearing your jokes and such, and know things will get easier with time as it does heal us. The memories we have are a picture of time and can never be taken away from us. Jim and I only heard of Joy's passing a few days ago, and what a shock. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. You have always known that Bessie was a grandma to Jimmy and Brian. Joy's friendly nature and laugh reminded us so much of her mom. She will be missed by a whole lot of people who loved her a lot.

I knew Joy through her daughter Susan. I know Joy was a kind and loving person that illuminated the room with her smile and joyful personality. Joy will continue to live in our hearts and in our memories. Here is to a life well lived.

Our hugs and prayers go out to the Mauro and Callaway families as you experience the shock and grief of Joy's sudden passing. Matt, Julia, and I have fond memories of our visits with Joy and Chuck in Colo. Springs. Joy was such a kind and generous soul. She will be missed terribly. We enjoyed seeing the photos from different times in her life.

Joy will be missed by many. She had many friends, she was a Joy to be around. She has been a dear friend for a long, long time. We date back to Junior High, slumber parties, and the like. We later were Camp Fire leaders with our daughters and had a lot of fun, cooking at Camp Hantesa, getting ready for our meetings with the girls, selling candy, making crafts, etc. We had so much fun shopping Iowa with another high school friend, Judy Hornocker.
My heart goes out to you, her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
