Demerious Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 13, 2023.

Demerious K'Von Antoinne Smith, affectionately called "Deme" died
unexpectedly on December 30,2022 in a car accident. He was 39 years old.
The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. However,
what will focus on today is his incredible life.
Our prince, treasure and gift from God, was born on May 24, 1983 in Camden,
New Jersey at Cooper Medical Center Hospital. He was nurtured in Camden
at the Mt. Olivet SDA church where his grandfather Dr. Ronald A. Smith
(Darian Smith)(both deceased) pastored. He was raised in Sicklerville and
Mullica Hill, New Jersey. He attended private school at Delaware Valley Jr.
Academy and was president of his 8th grade class. He graduated from Pine
Forge Academy with the Quintessential Class of 2001, voted “best dressed”.
He furthered his education for three years at Oakwood University in
Huntsville Alabama, (4th generation) majoring in Theology and Finance.
While in Huntsville, Demerious started working with Hilton Hotels, (Embassy
Suites) learning everything from the back door to the front door and
ultimately working as an Assistant General Manager for Embassy and the
historic Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Reading, PA. He moved home to
Mohrsville, Pennsylvania, to help his parents care for his aging grandmother
Mrs. Ella Mae Jenkins. While home, Demerious transitioned from the hotel
business to caring for the youth (which he always did wherever he was) all
over Berks County and Beyond. He worked with Abraxas Academy for
Transitional living as Operations Leader for the Habitual Offenders Program,
and Bethany Children's Home as Cottage Staff Support, alongside Conrad
Weiser Area School District as a Teaching Assistant/ Paraprofessional. He also
worked with the Arc of Lancaster & Lebanon as a Direct Support Professional
assisting autistic adults with one on one care. Demerious would say, It’s not a
job mom and pops, it is a ministry!
Now, let's take a look at what you may not have known about
Demerious:
Deme worked as a Realtor at Re/Max and Philadelphia Area Realty, Music
Producer, Script Writer, Director, Movie Actor, founder of R.A.R.E
Corporations, Co-founder of R.A.R.E is Real Music, and recently creating the
Smith Foundation (dedicated to changing the lives of at-risk youth through
charitable programs and educating them in the consequences of poor
choices.) This was to be revealed at Bethany Children’s Home in February
2023.

This foundation will indeed continue, as part of his profound legacy! He
also did some photo modeling, possessed an excellent singing and
speaking voice and was looking to enter the voice-over acting arena. He
always had his parents laughing to tears over his voice imitations of
pastors, actors and others! In whatever spare time Demerious had, he
pursued his passion for acting. He worked in the following roles/ films:

Films
1. Hustle
2. Charm City Kings

TV Show
1.Mare Of Easttown

Commercials

1. Fulfilled Biblical Foundations
2. Philadelphia Economic Forum 2017

Roles

Basketball Ball Spectator
Baltimore Neighborhood Resident

Prison Guard
Bible Study Participant
Bright Colors
Live Audience Member

He always took an active role in the lives of his Bro-cousins (Brosins) who
were all raised together. His love for them transitioned time. He was never
an only child.
Deme had a deep love and interest with the children at Bethany Children's
home and Conrad Weiser, always sharing advice on life skills and caring for
them as if they were his very own biological offspring. He also had an
unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He often spent his spare time
researching topics of interest or reading books. He enjoyed watching
basketball mostly, an avid Lebron James and Allen Iverson fan, huge lover
of the Philadelphia 76ers, and Eagles, an enormous Star Wars, Marvel/DC
fan (especially Batman) and had a passion for historic comic books. He
enjoyed going to the movies and whenever surrounded by company you
could be sure he would seize the opportunity to share a good movie
night.Demerious loved driving/traveling and never turned down a good
road trip. As a child he spent many summers with his Bermuda family,
extended cords of Paul and Kenlyn Brown, Aunties Glenda and Joan,
grandmother and cousins, and N.J. family Auntie Linda Robinson.

He really enjoyed his vacations to Mexico, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Hawaii,
Barbados, St Lucia, the Southern Caribbean and Florida family reunions. He
cultivated a loving relationship with his betrothed Naomi J. Varmah where
they planned to commit in holy matrimony off the North African Coast in the
Canary Islands, in February of 2023.
Demerious was never afraid to take on new opportunities and did everything
with honesty and integrity. He lovingly referred to his parents as his "Parental
Guidance (PG)" who instilled very strong values. He was loved by everyone
due to his positive energy, kindness, gentleness, and wisdom. Deme had
incredible patience, and always made time to help others. He would say, “It
all comes back to us.”
Demerious’s legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we should walk
and live as we profess. Demerious will have a celebration of the immortality
promised to all by Christ. He chose to live a life of meaningful acts of love,
supreme sacrifice and non-stop service, as Christ modeled for us. He would
love to be remembered with funny, unique stories that profess the profound
miracles of God.
Demerious is survived and missed by his loving wife-to-be, Naomi Joesette'
Varmah; and his parents, Michael and Dr. Tamara Smith. He is forever
cherished by his Aunts and Uncles: Dr. Karen E. Smith (Aubrey), Marcia and
Wesley Whitaker, Robin Whitfield- Smith (Ronald Smith-deceased) Robert
Whitfield; Aunties Lois, Barbara and Janice (deceased), Andrew Dunlap and
family, Leon and Lisa Stewart and Kenyatta Myers. He deeply loved his
cousins and and their families: Margie and Burt Norris, Myrtis and Hersey
Gray, Edith Armstrong, (Diane Mcloud-deceased), Marquita, Carmenita, Ayana,
Sharon, Cynthia, Vance, Gemma, Frank, Shawna, Hassan, Christine, Jarrod,
Sheila, Brandon, Nicole, (Aaron-deceased), Ashanti, Tahira, Waneisha, and a
plethora of so many more younger cousins and extended family. His memory
will be cherished by God-parents Denise Thompson, Shelley Nurse, Kenneth
Jones, Robert Douglass, God-sister Charmaine, and a plethora of
Pennsylvania, Chi-town, Colorado, Las Vegas, Maryland Aunties, Mt. Calvary
SDA Aunties, Lilian and Heather, Texas, South Carolina, Canada, Georgia, and
Florida loved ones. He loved his homegirl and sister Darnelle Lubin, Oakwood
University homeboys and girls, Pine Forge Academy everything, and extended
family, besties, and friends all over the world.

Demerious was a visionary. I am the Human resource manager for Greater Hearts human services LLC which Demerious accepted a position as a Direct Support Professional. I was blessed and inspired to see first hand how hungry he was to achieve external, but humble by his internal character. Reading about his life, I am reminded when Abraham Lincoln said, "No man is poor who has a Godly mother". Despite the greatness Demerious achieved, he held his power for the good of others. Also, he modeled excellence for the world to embrace. Now Demerious is in heaven rejoicing with the angels... thank you for coming into our lives at Greater Hearts and touching us with your kindness.

Tami and Michael,
There are no adequate words... I know 'D' was the light of life for the two of you. Although I only met him a few times, that was enough to know how bright his light was. Holding on to the belief that his light now shines brighter than ever in his eternal home and I am holding you both in my heart.

Demerious was a light in a dark world. He was a member of our fitness center. If a gentle giant could be personified - he would be it. He exuded loving kindness every tine he entered the club. Our deepest sympathies.
