Died: November 6, 2022 in Peoria, IL
KEWANEE – Dena R. Carlson, 61, of Kewanee, died Sunday, November 6, 2022 at UnityPoint Health – Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of her Life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4 at Hootenanny's in Buda. Memorials may be directed to her family. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
She was born February 24, 1961 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Herbert P. and Mercedes (Pena) Clark. She had been married to Robert Gromm Sr. and later married Tim Carlson and he preceded her in death. Survivors include her mother, her children; Monica (Matthew) Maginn, Robert "Jayar" (Denise) Gromm, Ryan Rokey and Tammy Gromm, a brother, Mikel (Paula) Clark, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and cousins and a niece and a nephew. She was also preceded in death by her father.
Dena had worked as a bartender and has also worked at Liberty Village and Ace Hardware. She enjoyed outdoor activities and Native American items. She loved all animals, especially boxers. She helped transport rescues and fostered animals from the shelter.
