Shirley Greenberg has treasured memories of happy times with Denis and Huguette. Plus I'm forever grateful that Denis was available to patch me up after a bad accident on a tennis court.
It was comforting to know that he was there when he was needed or just in case. He will be missed.

Dear Huguette and the Desjardins family,
I have known Denis since I was a young, chubby little kid who spent summers outside of Ottawa with my family. I have a vivid memory of him reducing my dislocated shoulder right in the backyard! I still see his strong hands and feel his gentle presence as he put me back together in just moments. I've seen Denis sporadically throughout my life and he has always been an interesting, amusing, enjoyable man. He profoundly touched many lives, including mine, and will be missed greatly.

To all of Denis' loved ones...may I tell you what a distinct pleasure it was to be his patient, and also his scrub nurse at the Old General.
What nurse doesn't have back troubles, yet he took gentle, competent care of me and gave me great comfort.
How well I remember his surgeries...you would get his twinkly-eyed smile of appreciation, and the beautiful cologne he always wore was a little bonus to the experience of being his scrub nurse. His surgical technique was incomparable, and his temperament in the O.R. was always pleasant, always kind. If we were lucky that day, Denis would enchant us by singing parts of the High Mass or some other exquisite melody. And he always had a funny story for us. He and I talked of writing a joke book together, as some of the more seasoned O.R. veterans may recall, but we encountered problems categorizing the jokes that spanned several topics!
To Helene and the family, may loving memories of Dr. Denis, a man so loved and respected by so many, bring you solace and peace in the times ahead.

Cher Dr. Denis Desjardins,
It is with great sadness that you have left us with such a loss. My fond memmories of seeing you after school in the '60, '70 at your office on Laurier Avenue. You always told me I would find a way to climb those steps even though I found them a hurdle and not much a barrier. You have touch many lives with your wonderous orthopedic techniques and put smiles on many of us when we had no hope. Many thanks to you and your family for the tremendous legacy you have left us so we many continue your works deeply in our hearts of fulfilling our careers in Orthopedics. Dr. Denis you have also given us enough courage to keep going. I will greatly miss your old morning hellos at the General and those humourous jokes shared among your colleagues that put a smile on our faces every time we saw you.
May you rest in peace. My prayers are with your family now; go and join my dad (who left us 5 yrs ago) and I can SEE YOU playing A ROUND OF golf in heaven and shared old time jokes, which isn't such a a bad thought of mine right now.

Le départ d'oncle Denis nous aura beaucoup chagrinés, ne sommes nous pas cependant heureux de l'avoir connu. Il a pris dans nos vies une place, bien que différente pour chacun d'entre nous, qui ne sera jamais comblée.On ne remplace pas une pesonne par une autre mais la vie se reconstitue et en vieillissant on apprend à conjuguer ses sentiments au temps présent et au temps passé.Tant et aussi longtemps que le coeur se souvient, les êtres que nous aimons y demeurent et y vivent. Je pense à oncle Denis en pensant à vous.

Bonjour Huguette,
Ma première pensée quant j’ai appris que le grand Denis nous a quitté pour vivre dans la lumière étais que grâce a lui mon fils André marche. La suivante était un souvenir de l’accueille que tu avait pour nous lors de nos visite au bureau. Le petit Lacasse comme Denis l’appelais. Le petit cousin. Le petit bébé que Denis a soigner des sa naissance il a marcher. Je me souviens le jour ou à 13 mois André a fièrement marcher dans le grand corridor du bureau le la rue Laurier. Denis et toi vous l’attendiez avec des sourires resplendissants. Et bien je crois que Denis a fait lui aussi un pas majeur et qu’il veillera sur toi et sur nous tous. Le petit bébé aux cheveux roux est maintenant un homme et un papa.
Merci Denis.
Avec l’amour et le respect que porte dans son cœur pour Denis la famille Lacasse, je souhaite a toi et a la famille nos plus sincère condoléances. Que Dieu vous enveloppe tous de son amour comme il le fait présentement avec le grand Denis.
