Denis Waitley

What a life. What an inspiration. Truly one of the greatest speakers, authors and human beings. It was a huge surprise and a great honor, when the elevator door to our Chicago apartment opened up and there was Michal Norton accompanied by Denis. We had a long afternoon conversation and a wonderful afternoon.

Dennis had a huge and powerful influence on me as an executive at Unilever and later an entrepreneur and Founder of Crisp Imaging. "If you think you can you can" was my mantra for years and the importance of putting the "right pictures in your head" from a national sales meeting forever changed me. I always enjoyed listening to Denis, and one of my favorite stories he told was about trying to get his baby daughter to eat something she didn't like. I think the food was squash. Loved his training on the psychology of winning. RIP Denis, and thanks for all that you gave us.

My sincere condolences. He wouldn't remember, but I did. We met in 1982 at a Motivational Speech and Book Signing, "The Winners Edge". He autographed my book and I followed him ever since.

I first heard Denis through an audio cassette program given to me by an entrepreneur friend. Unlike so many other "positive thinkers" with a "program," Denis' advice was so practical and down to earth. I incorporated so much of it into my life at the time. Many years later, when sadness and depression had a strong grip on me over the loss of a beloved horse, I wrote to Denis and he wrote me back with words of encouragement. I will never forget that small gesture to a stranger. It meant a lot to me. I think he probably encouraged more people than he ever realized.

Denis has been a mentor of mine since 1986, when a friend gave me the audio program The Psychology of Winning. Since that time, I have read, listened to, and studied everything Denis put out. Today, as a grandfather with a great marriage and many successful years in sales and business, I can´t help but reflect on Denis´ teachings that I have applied. I am so grateful for Denis and his wisdom over the years.

Outside of my relationship with Jesus Christ, he has had one of the largest impacts on my life. I was blessed to have the chance to take an online webinar with Denis back in 2020 and to sit under his teaching for six days-a memory I will cherish forever.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Waitley family. Though your dad has passed, take comfort in knowing that his impact will live on forever.

I was working a second job as a luxury car washer/detailer at a bank building in University Town Center (UTC, San Diego) in the '80's when I saw a copy of 'The Psychology of Winning' tape series on the passenger seat of a Porsche 928. My first job was Aviation Ordnanceman at Top Gun, NAS Miramar. I would ride my mountain bike to UTC for that second job but the very next day I rode it to a Successories store at the UTC mall and purchased my own copy of the series. Years later, working for a tech ed company in Rancho Bernardo, next to SONY, the venerable Denis Waitley came to tour our building. He was amazing! He graciously signed my copy of his book, 'Seeds of Greatness': "To Mitch--Only the best!" I went on to complete a B.S. in Counseling Psychology and to practicum-level in a Master's program at Bethel Seminary - West, San Diego. God bless your work and family! --MAJ

My deepest sympathies to Denis's friends, family and the world for Denis' passing. His wisdom and words on personal power that I have followed, practiced for over 30 years were instrumental not only in my healing but in I becoming a healer and author myself. THAT is the power of Denis, like truth, undefeatable and indestructible. Thank you, kind sir. May your memory live eternally.

Denis had an amazing influence in shaping my future which paid huge dividends in the guidance of my children through their childhood. I´m forever grateful and feel very blessed for the time he graciously spent with me. What an incredible gentleman he was. He is greatly missed.

My condolences to the Waitley Family. As USANA Associates my wife Dawn and I enjoyed many years of Denis at convention and learning from his many tools he left for us as his legacy. I met him once at a book signing and I´ll cherish his memory for the resr of my years.
