Denise Siekmann 1955-2024

Denise (Fey) Siekmann (68), of Greenfield, Massachusetts (formerly of Lincoln, New Hampshire) died February 9th, 2024. After a long and courageous battle with cancer she passed peacefully at the home of her daughter Lindsey with her loved ones by her side. Denise was born in New York City on March 16th, 1955 to Ernest Fey and Gertrude (Woessner) Fey. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Ernie Fey of New Jersey. She is survived by her Husband, Ron Siekmann, of Greenfield, Massachusetts, and her sister Linda (Charles) Geran of New Jersey. Two daughters; Cheryl, her three children; Cameron, Kiley, and Kaitlyn Clermont of Lincoln, New Hampshire, and Lindsey, her husband, Aaron McCloud and their two children; Sarah and Griffin McCloud of Greenfield, Massachusetts.

Denise graduated from Gannon University in 1975 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. From an early age, Denise loved working with children, and people in her community. Her first job was as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Oradell Swim Club in New Jersey. She loved kids so much that she opened up her own preschool called Lin-Wood Preschool in Lincoln, New Hampshire, and later taught Elementary School at Lin-Wood Public School for over 28 years.

Her husband Ron was a childhood friend, and they made many memories at the Oradell Swim Club. They were married December 27th 1975. They enjoyed going to Florida every summer. The beach was her "happy place". She loved collecting sea glass and making art work for her family and friends. She loved to craft, take long walks on the beach, collecting seashells, and shark teeth, as well as fishing. Denise and Ron loved to travel, especially cruises with dear friends Jim and Gerri Adams. Denise loved spending time with her many grandchildren, who were the love of her life. When she was with her loved ones, she was happiest. Giving to others lit her up from the inside and radiated outwards. She will be remembered as always having a smile on her face, as well as her kindness, generosity, and loving personality. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In keeping with Denise's wishes, there is no service; her ashes will be released at her favorite place in Florida.

The family would like to thank Baystate Franklin Oncology, and Pioneer Valley Hospice.

"If you remember anything of me after I leave this world, remember I loved even when it was foolish. That I cared even when it was unwanted. When my body is gone, remember my heart."- Denise Siekmann

Ron and Family:

We were saddened to hear about Denise's passing, our thought and prayers are with you all.

We met Denise & Ron many years ago at Land's End in Treasure Island and we looked forward to catching up during our visits there each year. Last summer, we were fortunate when they came and visited us in Newfoundland, we will cherish those memories.

Denise was a beautiful person inside and out, she will be greatly missed.

I remember Denise from 6th grade. She was always nice.

I have a particular memory of her being grossed out when she found silk came from worms. A few weeks after we learned that we were talking about it, and I realized that she had forgotten the worm thing. Being a mischievous 11-year old I said the silk scarf someone had brought in for show-and-tell would look nice on her, and I tied it on her. I then reminded her about the silkworms and she screamed and couldn't get the scarf off of her quickly enough.

Denise adored her family and would do anything for them. Her crafts were beautiful. Her beach will miss her and so will the hundreds of students and parents and friends whose lives she brightened. I´m glad I knew her. I loved her.

Denise was in my life from the age of 18months old when I attended daycare right on through my years at Lin-Wood. She made she all the kids that where in her class es or spent time at her home were well taken care of. Her heart was as warm as her hugs and smiles. She was a treasure to the community, I will always have a special place for her in my heart

We first met Denise through her husband Ron who started working for the Tampa Bay Rays the same year my husband Jim did. They became fast friends and in time I met Denise. We shared some wonderful memories with both Denise and Ron. Cruising, visiting Mt. Rushmore and the badlands, seeing Alaska and most recently we visited them in Greenfield this past fall. So glad we did. Every trip was filled with laughter, fun times and we made some amazing memories. We will miss her smile, and her kindness. She was truly a special person.

I first met Denise when I was a Junior in high school. I couldn´t stand the thought of a third year of French so I asked to do an internship at The Lin-wood Preschool. Denise was a a great mentor and an influence in my decision to become a teacher. Many years later, I went to work at Lin-Wood Elementary. Denise was my daughter´s first grade teacher, my colleague and most importantly my friend. She had a huge heart and made a tremendous positive impact on so many. My heart goes out to her family. Sending love to you all.
