BREEN, Dennis J.
Mr. Dennis J. Breen died on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Sutter Davis Hospital in Davis. Born on June 16, 1941 in Chicago, IL, he was 63 years old. Mr. Breen was raised in Chicago where he graduated from Mendel Catholic High School. He later received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science with concentration on Farm Operations from Iowa State University, class of 1964. He worked in the meat industry for over 40 years. He began his career in the Chicago Union Stock Yards and ended as the CEO of Transhumance Holding Company (THCi), the company behind the Superior Farms and Country Meadow brands. He and his wife, Mary Ellen nee Kryda, whom he had known since childhood, were married in 1964. Together they journeyed through life and raised a family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving and world travel. Mr. Breen has been a resident of Davis for the past 20 years. His family says he will be loved forever and greatly missed. Mr. Breen is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Ellen Breen of Davis; children, Dennis J. Breen, III and wife Erica of Walnut Creek, CA, and Timothy M. Breen and wife Teri of San Jose; 5 grandchildren which include Amanda, Caitlin, D. John, Kristen and Dylan. Mr. Breen is further survived by his mother, Dorothy E. Breen of Country Club Hills, IL; sisters, Patricia Schmidt of Porter, IN, Kathleen Sellers and husband Charles of Lakeside, MI; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing is scheduled on Monday, July 26, from 4-8pm at the Davis Funeral Chapel located at 116 "D" Street in Davis; the rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 27 at St. James Catholic Church, 200 West 14th Street in Davis. Interment will be private. Remembrances may be made in his name to the Sutter Davis Infusion & Oncology Department, 2000 Sutter Pl., Davis, CA, the Stanford Medial Center Bone Marrow Transplant Department, or you may donate blood at your local blood donation center.
