Dennis Bretherick Obituary
Dennis Wayne Bretherick, age 73, of Florence, Ala., passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013.
Mr. Bretherick was preceded in death by his parents, Gaynelle and Alma Cabler Bretherick; and two brothers, Jerry and Randy Bretherick.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Earline Baskins Bretherick; sons, Dennison Bretherick (Candace) and David Bretherick (Talisa); daughters, Brenda Thompson Broadfoot (Barry) and Cindy Thompson Hood (Lance); grandchildren, Kristi Broadfoot (Stephen), Haley Beth Hood Yarbrough (Craig), Ethan Broadfoot, Katlin Bretherick, Jaden Bretherick, Megan Johnston, and Elizabeth Johnston; great-granddaughter, Ellie Yarbrough; and sisters, Kay Burks (Joe) and Betty Ferrell (Lloyd).
Mr. Bretherick was a faithful member of Central Heights Baptist Church, a naval veteran, a retired Ironworker, Local No. 477, a Mason, and a member of the Cahaba Shrine. He was very proud of his more than 225 trips as a Roadrunner to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Central Heights Baptist Church from 1-3 p.m. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. Brother Roger Houston and Brother Greg Woodard will be officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley's Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Brewer, Jamie Burks, Johnny Daily, Herby Harrison, Keith Hester, and Chuck Pilkinton.
The men's Sunday School class of Central Heights Baptist will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the building fund at Central Heights Baptist Church or to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Margaret, we just recently learned about the passing of Dennis and extend our sympathy. I had such great times with the Bretherick cousins while we were growing up, and have many good memories of Dennis Wayne. May God bless you and your family in this time of bereavement and may he grant you strength as you continue life.

Dennis was a special fellow, he helped so many children in the shrine to get to the hospitals and back. He was a good man and was always ready to help. Our prayers and condolences to the family. Dennis will be missed by all and especially the older Shriners.
