I knew Dennis from daily mass at St. Ann's and from the charismatic prayer group he faithfully took part in. I was blessed to know him and was very sorry to hear that he had passed away while I was visiting family on the mainland. I, who did not know him long or all that well, am truly sorry that he is no longer with us. He was a great blessing to me and, I am sure, to all who knew him. My heart and prayers go out to all of his family and especially to Alvina --- you were a gift to him and I am sure he was a great gift to you. Many blessings to all of you.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dennis' passing. He was my first teacher in HPER at UH when I transferred in in the early '70's and my last teacher when I finished my masters in 2005. He was my colleague and friend throughout those 40+ years. I'll always remember his kindness, wisdom, guidance, support, and commitment to making our lives healthier, more fit, and fun! He was a dedicated professional and compassionate friend. My sincere condolences to his family.

My first impression with Dennis was on the volleyball court. I was fresh out of college, playing collegiate ball, and Dennis was a veteran on the court. He was a tenacious competitor, but humble in spirit. He was a true "All American, All Hawaiian" that made you proud to be on his team. He will be missed, but the good Lord knows Dennis is competing on a heavenly level now. Peace be with you, my brother.

Dennis and I were teammates at the University of Hawaii. He was not only a great player but an even greater guy. We've had a lot of fun times during our UH days.

I have been living in Atlanta for the past 39 years but have had lunches with him no less than 6 times during my annual vacation visits back to the islands.

He was a great friend and I'm sure he will be missed. My sincerest condolences to the family.
