Dennis Lee "Duff" Coulter

Dennis Lee "Duff" Coulter, 64, of Mendon, died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at his home.

He was born Dec. 6, 1953, in Quincy, a son of Harold and Geraldine Schuerman Coulter. He married Karen Weitnauer on June 10, 2007, in Las Vegas, and she survives.

Duff proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1971 until 1977.

Duff and his wife, Karen, enjoyed camping, playing bags, racing with his boys and spending time with his friends and family. Duff always remained very close with his Till family members. He was employed as a truck driver for 38 years for numerous companies including Gully Transportation, McNay Truck Lines, American Freightways and FedEx in Quincy. The last 15 years of his life he was the proud owner of Whispering Oaks Campground in Mendon.

Duff is survived by his wife, Karen Coulter of Mendon; three children, Bryan Coulter (Melissa) of Springfield, Kristen Westerheide (Bob) and Andrew Coulter, both of Quincy; stepchildren Jill Steinkamp (Nick) and Beth Bastert, both of Quincy, and Bill Bastert (Jan Nell) of Mendon; three grandchildren, Jaden Coulter of Quincy, Ethan Coulter of Springfield, and Lillian Gibson of Quincy; six stepgrandchildren, Allison, Jamie, Paul, Issac, Nathan and Carter Steinkamp, all of Quincy; three sisters, Rebecca Sowell of Phoenix, Virginia Harrison (Bill) of Canton, Ga., and Betty Jean Sanders of Louisiana, Mo.; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Duff was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy Ann Miller; three brothers, Michael D. "Mike" Coulter, Donald Ray "Butch" Coulter and Lyle Ray "Jr." Coulter; and a granddaughter, MacKenzie LeAnn Coulter.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

SERVICES: 10:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at graveside in Greenmount Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

MEMORIALS: Unity Point Hospice Care Quincy Unit or the Cancer Research Institute.
