Dennis Holmes Obituary
Chenango Bridge, NY 4/1/1951 - 12/27/2015 Passed away peacefully surrounded his family and is no longer in pain. Predeceased by parents, Douglas and Jane (Nieman) Holmes. Survived by daughters, Marcie Cabrera (Luis) of Virginia; Joanna Barton (Shane) of Binghamton; and Jordan Holmes of North Carolina. He was a loving grandfather to Liam Barton, who will always be his Papa; survived by mother of his children and friend, Jerrye Holmes of North Carolina; brother to Robert Holmes (Donna) of Binghamton and Richard Holmes of Vermont; many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Chenango Valley grad from 1969, earned two degrees at Broome CC. He was a telecommunications technician for many years. He was a very passionate guitarist and drummer, including sitting in with the Beach Boys, and member of several local bands. He was an off ice official for the AHL Binghamton Whalers and Rangers. The family would like to thank all caregivers and loving friends through the last years of his journey. A Memorial Mass will be held 11am Thursday December 31st, 2015 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 728 River Rd, Chenango Bridge. Friends may call at the church from 10am until the time of service. ARRANGEMENTS ARE BY AEGIS CREMATION & FUNERAL SERVICES, 196 CLINTON ST, BINGHAMTON, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to local hospice or becoming an organ donor.

As echoed throughout the guest book, Dennis was a great guy with many a story to tell. Not sure that his vocals were equal to his drumming, but he could take a joke, and give it right back. Will miss the stories and friendship. Rest in Peace Dennis.

Sad to read of Dennis' passing. I hadn't seen him in 20 years, I knew him in his off-ice official capacity, my having sat behind the penalty box for a dozen seasons. A very pleasant man to discuss ice hockey and sports with. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all that knew and loved him.
