Dennis Owens Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 2, 2025.
Dennis "Denny" James Owens, also known as "DJ," passed away peacefully, leaving a lasting legacy of hard work, love, and dedication. Born on December 17, 1943, in Glendale, California, to William and Marguerite Owens, Denny was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dave Owens. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Stephanie and Rich Isberg of Canby, OR, Laura and Dennis Atterberry of Scottsdale, AZ, Maria (Nicole) Ainsworth and Ken Herbert of Chicago, IL, and Ron and Denise Coomes of Dallas, OR; three grandsons, Jon Isberg, and Tyler and Austin Miller; one granddaughter, Siri Herbert; one great-granddaughter, Izabella Isberg; his sister-in-law, Diana Owens; nephew, David Owens; and niece, Anne Owens.

Denny was known for his strong work ethic, his faith in God, his love for his family, and his willingness to always lend a hand to the elderly or those in need. He loved ballroom dance, road trips, WWII history, and anything to do with mechanical equipment.

As a young man, Denny worked alongside his father at his father's gas station in Pasco, WA. After his father passed, Denny moved his young family, along with his mother, and teenage brother to the Washington State Peninsula, where he began commercial fishing with his brother. He later moved to Molalla, OR where he worked several years in the logging industry before establishing Meadowbrook Construction, a local excavation company, which he proudly ran for nearly 40 years.

Denny read his Bible and prayed every day. He would often be heard singing or humming his favorite hymns. Through good times and bad, his faith remained strong, and he would take advantage of any opportunity to share his faith with others.

A celebration of life in Denny's honor will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, February 21st at Canby Funeral Chapel, 160 S. Grant St., Canby, OR followed by a light luncheon at Bethany Evangelical Church, 450 S. Ivy St., Canby, OR. Denny will be laid to rest at Adams Cemetery, S. Adams Cemetery Rd., Molalla, OR.

May we all rejoice knowing Denny is with his Heavenly Father and that his legacy will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

It seems I've known Denny all my life. As his family, you have my deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers. It's been years since I've seen his daughters, but understand the pain of losing your Dad. I am so sorry for your loss.
