DEREK BOOGAARD
June 23, 1982 - May 13, 2011
4 years ago, you were taken from us tragically; still feels like it was yesterday, that fateful call. Can words really describe the pain of losing a child? Derek was a son who made us proud, so loved and sorely missed. He was a brother, an uncle, a grandson, a cousin, a nephew, a great friend to many and the protector for many on the ice, and things should not have gone the way they did.
4 years of heartache and sadness, seeing him in my dreams, just wishing to hear his voice, wishing we could talk once more.
4 years of wishing to hear his voice, see his little grin, just get that big teddy bear hug, just one more time.
4 years has missed out on Ryan and Lisa's wedding; a new niece, Skylar; Aaron's graduation from the Golf Academy of America; Krysten's achievements with the Canadian National Basketball team playing pro overseas; Gladys getting into dentistry; Logan, Haden and Molly all growing up missing their uncle so. I know you would be so proud.
Tomorrow starts again without you, as does every day now, the sun rises, the sun sets, nightfall and darkness comes, silent tears fall for the loss of a son that is never far from my heart and mind. You will never ever be forgotten Son.
