Derek E Demeter

Derek passed away August 18, 2025 from a lengthy illness. Derek was born in Dayton, OH and grew up in Savannah, GA. Derek was kind and had a caring soul. He has a large family in Dayton and Savannah that he loved dearly. He really liked coming back to "Ohio Dayton" to spend summers with his grandparents, aunt and uncles when he was younger. As we were driving back to Ohio from Savannah Derek would always ask, "When are we getting to Ohio Dayton?" He always wanted his Aunt Lisa to take him to Foys Halloween shop to see "Cosmo" the monkey. He would enjoy watching him jump around in his cage. Christmas was always his favorite time of year. His mom and stepfather would bring him back to Ohio for a family Christmas. He also enjoyed visiting with his extended family Bertha, David and Angie when he was in town.

Following in his momma's foot steps Derek became an avid biker and enjoyed riding with his mom and friends.

But the proudest accomplishment in his life was becoming a father. He loved his "Baby Jade" with his entire being. He was an excellent father to Jade and enjoyed every minute of it. You could see the love he had for his beautiful daughter everytime he seen her by the big smile on his face.

Derek is preceeded in death by his loving mother Kimberly Hinley (Demeter) and stepfather Fred of Savannah, GA, Grandparents Jack and Judy Demeter of Dayton, OH. He is survived by his beautiful daughter Jade Demeter of Savannah, GA, Aunt Lisa Demeter of Dayton, OH, Uncle George (Lisa) Demeter of Beavercreek, OH and Uncle Stephen Demeter of Pensacola, FL , step sister Amy(Tim) Heirs, and stepbrother Danny (Kelly) Hinley of Savannah, GA, several cousins and other family members and friends.

Derek was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all.
