It is with sadness at a life lost too soon that I wish to send my condolences to the family and friends of Derek Stokes and Catherine Angeles. He and his partner in life, Catherine "Kat", were friends I met while they were on one of their adventures in life. They were a team, and Derek was the creative artist, photographer, and videographer of the team with his degree in Film. Catherine with her empathic side and Anthropology background was a perfect sidekick. Together they captured the essence of kindness, nature, magicnbeauty "Skalalitude" (as they called it) and their projects working with the Native Americans in the Southwest as they created the documentary of "Popay a True American Hero" and then went to the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. for the presentation of the Native American Statue. That was one example of the many videos they created as they worked with the Kupuna across the Hawaiian islands, or their creative sense of humor as they filmed cute photos of their adventure with a miniature Big Foot from their time in the Northwest, Washington. I will miss their stories of their ongoing travels, and can't think of one without the other. They could finish each others' sentences. I always told them they should write a book of their unique life experiences. I wish they had. Derek had much talent and so much more to share with the world. The world will miss them both. I will miss them both. The day I heard on the radio that they had passed, I watched some of their videos they had created and posted to Youtube. I was watching one of the Bluemoon. As I looked up into the sky that night I felt tears trickle down my face quietly, and then out of the night I saw a fast bright green meteor streaking across the sky...I know they would have said that was them, and I would like to think it was. With my condolences and much aloha...
