Gordon HOWREN Obituary

HOWREN _ Gordon (Gord) was born on February 1, 1960 in Burnaby, B.C., and passed away suddenly on August 14, 2003 at the age of 43. Gord is survived by Joanne, his loving wife; and wonderful children, Alyssa and Gregory. Also left to mourn are Gord's mother, Doreen; sisters, Judy and Wendy (Bobby); brother Mick; sister-in-law Judy; nieces Laura and Tamra, and nephew Michael. Gord will be lovingly remembered by other family members, Rose (mother-in-law), Val and Les, Evelyn and Dennis, Robin and Bill and nieces and nephews, Lauryn, Landen, Meaghan, Adrienne, Nolan, Matt and Daniel. Gord is predeceased by his father, Fred. Gord grew up in central Burnaby and was avid in sports, excelling in soccer & lacrosse. As a child Gord and his family shared a love of fishing, a past-time he enjoyed with Alyssa and Greg. Gord cherished the family gatherings and time spent with neighbours. He was devoted to his family and friends and was selfless in giving of his time to them. Gord shared with Joanne a passion for gardening and had a talent for collecting garden treasures from friends and places they travelled together. He was very committed to volunteer work within his community and dedicated much of his time to the Eagle Ridge/Westwood Youth Soccer Organization as an executive member as well as a coach. Remembered for his generosity, humour, love of family and friends - he will be missed by many whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby. In memory of Gord donations may be made to the KidSport Fund at Sport B.C.
