Desmond Charles Harty

HARTY _ Desmond Charles April 11, 1934 - February 14, 2007. A life of honour, dedication, and integrity; this is the legacy of Desmond Charles Harty. His example of a life worth living began on April 11, 1934 in Kingston Jamaica. He married, fathered two beautiful children, Maria Simone (Vancouver) and Stephen (England) and later grandfathered his wonderful grandson Elliott. After educating in Jamaica and later at London University in England, he returned to Jamaica and successfully built two businesses before continuing his life's journey to Canada in 1968. In 1964, he started his life of service and dedication to his fellow man through the Dale Carnegie Organization and continued that career in Canada. An enthusiastic instructor, devoted business coach and sales associate, he was a leader, receiving countless awards and accolades for the lives he touched. He lived by the principles he taught, and was unwavering in his approach to humankind. Not one to leave well enough alone, he was always looking for better ways to contribute to the community that loved him so. His support of various community organizations through his speaking engagements and his love for the Big Brothers Association left a path for other's to follow. He faced every challenge in life as an opportunity to discover more of himself and as a result helped others to do so as well. Although illness may have claimed him from this world, it will never claim him from our hearts. Even in the end he demonstrated the principles by which he lived. He will live on through all of us who had the honour of knowing and loving him. We will carry his legacy forward, he'd expect nothing less. A Celebration of Life to take place on February 24 at 11am.
