Desmond A. Ramsey

Desmond A. Ramsey, age 81 of Park River, ND passed away on Monday, March 8, 2004 at the First Care Health Center of Park River, ND.
Desmond A. Ramsey was born May 2, 1922 in rural Park River, ND the son of the late John H. and Amy E. (Simmons) Ramsey. He grew up and attended schools in Park River, graduating from the Walsh County Agricultural School. He served in the United States Navy as a signalman. Following his discharge he returned to Fargo and attended NDSU. Following his education he returned to Park River where he owned and operated Ramsey Construction. He married Edith Novak on July 8, 1952 in Veseleyville, ND. He retired from the construction business in the mid-1970's then worked in the laundry at the Grafton Developmental Center. He later worked as a custodian in the Park River School System. In August of 1997 he moved to the St. Anne's Guest Home in Grand Forks and lived there until June of 2003 when he moved to the Good Samaritan Center of Park River. He was a member of the Federated Church and the Paul Farup American Legion Post of Park River, ND and the Grafton and Grand Forks Eagles Club. He loved to play bingo and go dancing. He is survived by his children: Virginia (Ron) Lind of Fairbanks, Alaska; Gary (Mary) Ramsey of Dickinson, ND; Catherine (Dave) Corry of Olalla, WA; Sandra (Greg) Giefer of Lakeville, MN; Ronald (Lisa) Ramsey of Portland, OR; Sally Jacobson of Maple Grove, MN; Jon (Gretchen) Ramsey of Grand Forks, ND; 16 grandchildren and siblings: Ernest (Caroline) Ramsey of Grand Forks, ND; Virginia (Wayne) Meyer of Edinburg, ND; Shirley (Bill) Parker of Plano, TX and Donald Ramsey of Grand Forks, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Lester, Gordon and Ronald. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 11:00 a.m at the Federated Church of Park River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Paul Farup American Legion Post of Park River.
