Dexter Edwin Blom
On August 6, 2022 Dexter Edwin Blom passed away at the age of 92.
He was born in Estherville, Iowa on March 23, 1930 to Thomas and Thelma Blom. He was the 3rd of 15 children.
At age 17 he joined the Air Force, and served in the Korean War. During his time in the Air Force he met Evelyn Bryner, and they were married in 1954. They had one daughter, Vickie Blom (Mendenhall) who was the light of their lives. Dexter retired from the Air Force to Clark Fork, Idaho where he built the home he and Evelyn had been planning for years. In 1981 Dexter and Evelyn followed Vickie to Blackfoot, Idaho to be near their grandchildren, and he lived the remainder of his days there.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 10 of his siblings, his wife Evelyn, and his daughter Vickie. He is survived by 4 siblings, 4 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren, and his lovely, companion of the last 15 years Martha (Mabel) Stewart.
An Interment of ashes ceremony will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at a future date.
*Dexter's family loved him fiercely, so please don't take this brief obituary as a sign that he was unloved, it is what he wanted!
