Dexter Davison Obituary

SPARTANBURG, SC - Dexter Davison, 82, of Spartanburg, S.C., died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at his home. Born Jan. 31, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Herbert Milton Davison and Leona Gray Hickox Davison.
A graduate of Cincinnati Country Day School, Davison was also a cum laude graduate of the University of Oklahoma and received his master's degree from Clemson. He retired from Spartanburg Day School after 35 years of teaching and was head of the math department. After retiring, he continued teaching at Wofford College and Spartanburg Community College. He was an avid camper and a senior counselor at Camp Kooch-i-Ching in International Falls, Minnesota, and was of the Episcopalian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Josette Ann Williams Davison of the home; son, Dekker Davison of Pacolet, S.C.; daughter, Bethany Davison of Clemson, S.C.; grandson, Scout Davison, Yakob Davison-Daniels, and Cathey Davison-Daniels. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Laurie Davison; and sister, Ann Davison Vale.
At Davison's request, there will be no memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 510 Annie Alexander Court, York, SC 29745.
